1989 Pontiac Firebird
The 1989 Pontiac Firebird introduced the GM's Vehicle Anti Theft System or V.A.T.S.
with antitheft system warning decals in the lower rear corners of side windows.
It also features new N10 catalytic converters that give more power. There are
LB9 and L98 Trans AM Firebirds that offer optional t-tops, that got Lexan plastic
tops. These tops are lighter and have darker tints, with a curvier shape.

Pontiac Firebird offers the Trans Am car pace replica in its special 20th anniversary.
It is based on the GTA which is available in white with tan interior. It is equipped
with Buick 3.8-liter V6 with turbo charger which was developed in the Grand National.
The Firebird made all the rear disc brakes as optional, adding PBR brake calipers
and larger brake rotors that increased the braking power. This replica is almost
the same as the real pace car being offered today, except for some changes such
as the additional strobe lights and safety equipment.
